I haven't had to go far to go fishing. I've caught three pink salmon in my front yard so far this season -- a drop in the bucket compared with the dozens that my Browns Point neighbors have hauled in during the bi-annual pink salmon run in Commencement Bay.

Agua fresca means fresh water in Spanish. It also means a great way of putting an abundance of fruit to refreshing use. I bought an 8-pound watermelon recently. After eating about one pound, I wondered what to do with the rest. Agua fresca was my first and only thought. Read more
