Sauterne + blue cheese = OMG
Try something new for dessert tonight

I’m not a dessert person. Cakes, cookies, ice cream and such are fun on occasion, but I rarely go out of my way to indulge myself on sugary sweets. We all crave sugar to some degree. I believe my daily dose of sugar comes from the wine I drink and therefore, desserts are not on my radar.
However, when Maxwell’s Speakeasy and Lounge announced their dessert wine and cheese-pairing event, I was all over it. After a decadent dinner I would choose a big ol’ stinky blue over a hunk of chocolate cake any day. Add a small glass of Sauterne to the mix and well… I don’t want to be too graphic.

Okay kids, I am back on my white wine rant. Recently a friend celebrated her 40th birthday party and wanted to celebrate with all things French – French wine, French cheese, French film, etc. This was my opportunity to bring a white wine to a party where I knew reds would dominate the scene, and some (dare I say), weren’t even French! Sacre bleu!
The only this missing from this shindig was a video of “Better Off Dead”. If you don’t know what I am talking about, I am sad for you. Rent it. Back to the task at hand…

I love white wine. I admit it freely and openly. As a matter of fact, at this moment in time, I prefer to drink white rather than red. Stone, tar and feather, or make me sit in the water chair. I don’t care. I’ll say it again. I will say it loud and proud: I LOVE WHITE WINE. Read more
