Recently I did a wine tasting that featured wines from South America. At this tasting I poured three Malbecs (the fastest growing red wine in the market today) and two Torrontes. Last Thursday night it was my great honor to attend a wine dinner at Asado featuring wines from Whitman Cellars in Walla Walla and Corvus Cellars. Not only did I attend the event, I was fortunate to be seated with Stephen Lessard, winemaker for both wineries, and partner Randall Hopkins in Corvus.
Stephen has 20 plus years of winemaking experience and has made wine for such reputable establishments as Stag’s Leap Wine Cellars (Napa), Hacienda Winery (Sonoma), Hedges Cellars (Red Mountain), and most recently Whitman Cellars (Walla Walla). Together Stephen and Randall strive to showcase Corvus Cabernet as a wine with balance and depth while trying to embrace the local terroir.

Remember the saying, “Opinions are @!#holes - everybody has one?” When it comes to wine you can’t swing a dead cat around without hitting something or someone with an opinion. You have the Wine Spectator, the Wine Advocate, Food and Wine and don’t forget the slew of websites too numerous to mention.
